Our Founding Pastor, Current Pastor and RCWP

After a long period of discernment, Sandra DeMaster of McMinnville, Oregon, decided to become a Priest.  With the support of her family, many friends and peers, as well as an international organization known as Roman Catholic Womenpriests, Sandra was ordained as a Deacon in the spring of 2008, and Priest in 2009. Now in 2019 Sandra has begun her desire to  retire from leadership at Lumen Christi.

The Lumen Christi community is grateful to  have Sandra as their Founding Pastor and Priest, and they are proud to support and participate in the prophetic voice for justice and renewal in the Church. Sandra embodies their love for and their dedication to the Catholic Church, as well as their ideals of social justice, peaceful dissent, and courage of conscience.

The current Lumen Christ  acting pastor  is Denise Bernt who is a candidate for ordination with RCWP. She and Sandra  co-preside at our gatherings. Denise has completed her Bachelor of Religious Studies from Global Ministries University in 2018. She has been active in music ministry  her whole life and is available for special events like weddings, baptisms, retreats and funerals or other life celebrations.
